Very brief biography:
Composer and concert improviser (organ), studied 1961-68 at the Royal Academy of Music, London, with extended periods in Holland and Sweden (performing and research). DrFil (20th century improvisation styles), PhD (music notation of 13th and 20th centuries), MMus in London, BMus at Durham, ADCM, FRCO(CHM), ARAM, Recital diploma RAM. 13 prizes, scholarships and exhibitions in organ-playing, improvisation and composition at RAM. Finalist in international organ improvisation festivals of Nurnberg (1976) and Haarlem (1978 and 1985). He married Katharine Tylko (piano teacher and Slavonic translator) on 25th March 1975.
1969-94 Professor, Royal Academy of Music; 1995-2000 completion of works by Gesualdo (motets) and Szymanowski (Agawe); Musical Director of Bath’s Chandos Singers (since 2000) and Bath Chamber Opera (since 2011).
